Who We Are

South Michigan Avenue Merchants Association members are business owners with an invested interest in the business district along Michigan Avenue between Roosevelt Road (12th Street) on the north and Cermak Road (22nd Street) on the south.

Our Mission

Our mission is to enhance the quality of life and business atmosphere along one of the nation's most recognizable and prestigious boulevards.

Our Vision

Our vision is to promote and represent our diverse membership through marketing, neighborhood advocacy and member programs, and to be a force in decision-making that affects the business district of South Michigan Avenue.

Serving its Members and the Community

Marketing

SMAMA aims to promote the South Loop and encourage business growth and investment on South Michigan Avenue through direct marketing, website development and search optimization. We host special events including a Street Festival, Beautification Contest, Christmas Lights Festival, and Pub Crawl.

Neighborhood Advocacy

We keep members informed of developments that will affect their businesses and the neighborhood. SMAMA provides a forum with developers to promote constructive dialogue regarding development, architecture, commercial agreements, and strategies to continue improvements to the public way. We want to conserve and nourish South Michigan Avenue's dynamic urban ambiance, and foster partnerships with city agencies, elected officials, and the First District to promote safety and security. We will develop partnerships with Chicago charities to give back to the community.
